Sonar Tilt System
This is designed to ship Sonars in a container 7 feet 8-1/2 inches
wide and 8 feet 5 inches high
This should give you the Sonar on the trailer 7 feet 7-1/2 width, 8
feet 1 inch height. For standard containers you have to drop the axles
so to loose 6 inches in height.
Step one
Secure the twin channel piece to the trailer, either through bolt or
with square pipe clamps with the inner piece up next to the normal
Channel (photo 7)
Step Two
Lift the boat clear of the trailer. If you do not have a hoist that
moves sideways then position the trailer one foot inside of vertical
lift and control the boat as it lifts since it will swing out.
Step Three
Remove the middle and aft left side screw jack stand remove the
adjusting nuts, put the adjusting nuts on the new screw jacks, these as
two feet long and will now be left for both boat positions. Remove the
right side forward and middle screw jacks, these will be stored until
the boat is reset back to upright. Replace the right screw jacks with
the two screw jacks from the left, these will sit right down on the
support, use one washer to spread the load.
Step Four
Set the boat down with the keel on the outer channel and tilt to the
right until load is on the right supports, adjust right aft screw jack
until load is on all right supports. Adjust left screw jacks until
support is on hull firmly. Photos 1,2,3,4,
Step Five
Attach keel/hull frame to inner channel and adjust so there is load
on the frame. This is only to keep the boat from moving at the hull/keel
area and is a support for that area. Photos 5 and 6
Step Six
Double check that all supports are under load and secure the boat to
the trailer with straps. There is a diagonal behind the keel and suggest
padding that and securing the keel from shifting fore and aft.
Step Seven
Loading. Deflate right tire to about 15 psi. this will give extra
tilt and hence less width. Move into container, position, and block
trailer so the trailer frame is solid to keep from bouncing. Secure to
container. Ship mast hanging from overhead.
This system is designed for tilt to the right, if needed to tilt the
other way reverse screw jacks and double channel
