Notice of Race

1. Organizing Authority: The organizing authority is the St Petersburg Yacht Club (SPYC), St Petersburg, FL.

2. Venue: The regatta venue is the St Petersburg Sailing Center (SPSC), Demens Landing, St Petersburg, FL 33701. The SPSC will be open between 0800 hrs and 1800 hours from
November 5 - 10, 2002.

3. Rules:
3.1 The regatta will be governed by the current Racing Rules of Sailing (RRS) (except as changed by the Notice of Race or the Sailing Instructions), the rules of the classes involved, the IFDS Rules of Race Management (RMM) sections 1.2 - 1.6, and the current IFDS Functional Classification System and Procedures. SPYC reserves the right to change this notice of race. Any changes will be posted on the Official Notice Board at the venue.
3.2 All 2.4's shall meet the requirements of the 2.4mR International Rule.
3.3 This is an International Sonar Class Association (ISCA) Appendix B - Alternative Rules event.

4. Eligibility and Entry:
4.1 This regatta is restricted to boats of the Sonar or 2.4mR classes.
4.2 All competitors (skippers and crew) shall comply with the ISAF Eligibility Code (ISAF Regulation 21,
which is RRS Appendix 2). This requires each person to "be a member of a Member National
Authority or one of its affiliated organizations." Written proof of membership will be required.
4.3 Only athletes who fulfill the terms of the current IFDS Classification System shall be eligible to
participate.
4.4 The entry fee is US $75 for each 2.4mR and US $225 for each Sonar. This entry fee provides for 3
days of sailing clinics, 3 days of racing, one evening buffet, one snack at awards ceremony and prizes.
4.5 Only one change is permitted per Sonar crew during competition whether due to injury, illness or other special circumstance and then only with the written permission of the Race Committee, and only when their classification has been validated.

5. Boat Charter:
5.1 A limited number of 2.4mR and Sonar sailboats will be available for charter from the Organizing
Authority.
5.2 Boats will be chartered on a first-come, first-served basis with the following stipulations and limits:
a. The charter fee for a Sonar is US$750 + damage deposit + an insurance fee.
b. The charter fee for a Norlin MkIII 2.4mR is US$250 + damage deposit + an insurance fee.
c. No sails will be provided with chartered boats.

6. Registration:
6.1 Competitors may register in advance by completing and sending the attached registration form with the
appropriate entry fee to Phyllis Eades, SPYC Sailing Secretary, 11 Central Ave., St Petersburg, FL 33701. Payment in US dollars may be made by check, wire transfer, Visa or MasterCard. Contact SPYC Sailing Secretary if using a wire transfer or credit card.

6.2 Registration will be on Tuesday, November 5, 2002, at the SPSC from 1000 to 1500 hours.
6.3 With prior approval, late registration will be accommodated at the SPSC beginning at 0800 Friday, November 7th.
6.4 Completed entry forms, and fees must be received not later than 0900, November 7, 2002.

7.2 Eight races are scheduled for each event. A minimum of four (4) races in an event shall be completed to constitute a series for that event.
7.3 It is intended that 3 races will be sailed on November 8th and 9th, and two races on November 10th. Due to weather conditions, adjustments may be made as necessary.

8. Sailing Instructions: Sailing Instructions will be available at Registration.

9. Courses: Triangle or windward/leeward courses will be sailed.

10. Advertising: This event will be governed by the RRS, Appendix 1, (ISAF Regulation 20).

11. Scoring: The low point system of Appendix A of the RRS with one race excluded only when five or more races are completed.

12. Racing Area: The racing area will be Tampa Bay, Florida, ESE of the Municipal Pier.

13. Prizes: Prizes will be awarded to the first three finishers in each class.

14. Personal Flotation Devices
14.1 Personal Flotation Devices shall be worn at all times while afloat except when removed briefly to
adjust clothing for safety or comfort reasons.
14.2 Personal Flotation Devices shall be in good condition and comply with the specifications of the U.S. Coast Guard.

15. Haul-out Restrictions. The Sailing Instructions may contain haul-out and hull cleaning restrictions.

16. Rights to Use Name and Likeness. By participating in this event, an athlete automatically grants to the Organizing Authority and the sponsors of the event the right, in perpetuity, to make, use, and show, from time to time and at their discretion, any motion pictures and live, taped or filmed television and other reproductions of him/her during the period of the competition without compensation.
